Other Ways to Connect to UCLA
UCLA residents and staff have access to the electronic resources at UCLA and the David Geffen School of Medicine. To connect remotely, you will need your UCLA ID (UID) and VPN. For instructions on connecting to CareConnect at UCLA, please follow the instructions you will receive during your rotation in the UCLA Health System.
About Your UCLA ID (UID)
Your UCLA ID (UID) is a 9-digit employee number. This will be given to you and is also printed on the front of your UCLA ID badge. You will use this for all access to UCLA benefits and on-campus identification at UCLA.
Your UCLA ID Badge will be issued after you complete in-processing through the Department of Medicine.
Electronic Access to UCLA
Register at UCLA Bruin OnLine (BOL) using your UCLA identification number and personal information.
- Go to UCLA BOL at accounts.iam.ucla.edu.
- Click on the “Create a UCLA logon ID” button.
- Agree to the Terms of Service policy.
- Click on the “I have a UCLA ID Number (UID)” button.
- Fill out the form: First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, UCLA ID number (see 9-digit number on the front of the UCLA ID badge).
Multifactor Authentication via Duo
Multifactor Authentication (MFA) is required for secure sign-on from home and on the go.

UCLA VPN
The VPN for Bruin OnLine (BOL) allows remote access to UCLA online resources, including the Health Science Library, UpToDate, Access Medicine (including Harrison’s), download articles on PubMed, and more!
- Go to https://www.it.ucla.edu/bol/services/virtual-private-network-vpn-clients.
- Download the SSL VPN client for Windows, Mac, iOS, or Android.
- Install the SSL VPN client/settings.
- Log in to VPN using your BOL account
UCPath
UC Path is the current UCLA payroll system. Check here for employee information, including tax forms and pay stubs.
