Objectives:
- Know how to diagnose hypertension and determine blood pressure goals in individual patients based on AHA/ACC guidelines
- Know how to diagnose hyperlipidemia and determine treatment goals in individual patients based on AHA/ACC and USPSTF guidelines
- Be able to utilize the most appropriate therapies to achieve these goals, taking into account benefits and side effects
- Be able to utilize the “stages of change” for patients who smoke
- Be able to utilize pharmacologic therapies to help smokers quit, and know how to refer patients to “stop-smoking” resources
