We celebrate a milestone for both graduating residents and incoming interns, and honored excellence in clinical care and teaching.

Three housestaff were honored for their outstanding performance in the Urgent Care Clinic, each receiving the Dr. Gan Prize:

• Intern: Dr. Christine Shen
• Junior Resident: Dr. Kirollos Zaki
• Senior Resident: Dr. Peter Nguyen

Dr. Nikhil Bassi was honored as the Outstanding Fellow of the year by housestaff for his contribution to medical education at Olive View.  Marites Tullius received the NP of the Year award, recognizing her contributions to Palliative Care and inpatient medicine.

Additional award recipients were recognized earlier this year at the Spring Retreat and Graduation:

• Most Humanistic Resident: Dr. Johana Rodriguez
• Outstanding Intern of the Year: Dr. Katherine Fu
• Outstanding Resident of the Year: Dr. Ramee Younes
• Outstanding Resident in Teaching: Dr. Isabella Lai
• Outstanding Fellow in Teaching: Dr. Nikhil Bassi (Cardiology)

The Outstanding Care and Compassion awards were new this year and recognize excellence in clinical performance as selected by the Olive View faculty.  This year’s winners were the following:

• Outstanding Care and Compassion (Intern): Dr. Maxine Tang
• Outstanding Care and Compassion (Junior Resident): Dr. Mital Patel
• Outstanding Care and Compassion (Senior Resident): Dr. Ramee Younes

As we celebrated the completion of another year of medical training, we also looked forward to the coming academic year with our incoming interns.  Together, they reaffirmed the Hippocratic Oath, donned their new (long) white coats, and, to make it ever more official, received their official pagers.
